How to Enjoy Your Trip More in 20 Steps

Some little actions can make you enjoy your trip more and also spend less time with unnecessary situations.

1. Be flexible

Sometimes going to a restaurant, museums, etc. that you have not planned can be amazing. You don't have to follow exactly every single detail of your itinerary. One of the best parts of traveling is getting surprised with good things.

2. Don't take photos all the time

I know you want to photograph all the nice things you see during your trip, but while you take hundreds of photos many things can happen around, you will lose them.

Take photos, it's important, but don't forget to enjoy the trip!

3. Solo travel is a good choice

Traveling with friends or family is very nice, sharing the moments and laughing together is priceless, however, traveling alone is pleasant too, it can be a self-discovery, you get confidence by doing on your own, you can change plans easily, besides, you can meet new people.

Don't miss a trip because you are alone, allow yourself.

4. Get information about the destination before going

Before traveling to a new country or city getting some information about it is very useful. Learning a little about the culture, religion, language and history of the place can make you understand better what you are going to see and experience.

5. Wake up early

Waking up early avoid crowds and long lines on the main attractions. Not to mention, it is a good time to take photos due to the light. So get up early during the trip and make it fruitful.

6. Don't get stressed out

Things can go wrong all the time, while you're traveling too. Don't waste time getting stressed out because something got out control or didn't happen the way you want, be calm, take a look around, breath and keep enjoying every moment of your trip, you will laugh about the situation later.

7. Listen to the sounds of the place

Feel the place where you are by listening to its sounds. The noise of the car traffic, the song of the birds, etc. represent a lot about a city. So avoid using earphones while you walk through a new place.

8. Look around you

Frequently we are so focused on finding a specific restaurant or store that we do not realize the life around us. Pay attention to the colors, the buildings, the daily life of the locals, to the smells, etc. observing small details make your experience deep.

9. Slow down

Don't schedule hundreds of activities if you don't have enough time. It's almost impossible visiting everything you want in just some days. Don't worry, go to the same destination again and do everything is missing on your itinerary.

10. Walk a lot

Walking is the best way to get to know a city and feel it better. You can observe things that you are not able to pay attention to when you are in a car, on a bus, or, of course, on a subway.

11. Get an offline map

Getting an offline map is necessary while traveling, if your internet connection stop working, you won't get lost.

12. Get lost cannot be a problem

Don't get mad if you get lost, this is part of the trip, so enjoy watching the local life and visiting parts of the city you wouldn't know if you followed only your itinerary.

13. Learn some phrases in the local language

It's not necessary being fluent in the language of each country you are going to visit, but learning basic foreign words not only makes communication easier but also shows you are a kind person.

14. Try the local food

Eating local food is not the cheapest option sometimes, but it's a great way to have a complete experience while traveling.

15. Be open-minded

Don't judge other cultures, religions, lifestyles, you don't have to agree with them, but

you must respect, you can learn with the differences. Remember you are a visitor.

16. Watch out for your backpack and pockets

While traveling we tend to relax and don't worry much about somethings, so when you're among crowds, especially in tourist areas, look around you, put your backpack in front of you and avoid keeping your belongings in the back pockets, pickpockets can enjoy a moment you are inattentive and get your things.

17. Dress appropriately

In some countries, especially in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, there is a specific dress code, so wearing short and tight clothes can be offensive. Besides, to visit some temples and churches should cover most of your skin. Avoid uncomfortable situations during your trip by dressing conservatively, if it's necessary, and everything is going to be ok.

18. Visit unusual spots

Even though visiting the most famous spots is very nice and part of a trip, exploring new areas allows you to live different experiences and see non-touristy parts of a city, you are going to feel it the way it is.

19. All destinations are awesome

It's possible having fun at any destination you go to, it only depends on you, it doesn't matter if it is an international or national trip. If you face any opportunity to travel as an incredible possibility to learn and visit new things, all your trips will be interesting.

20. Don't do/visit things you don't like

It's not because everybody is visiting the latest sculpture exhibition that you should visit it, use your time to go to spots that are nice for you. Occasionally, you end up doing activities that are not your cup of tea only due to people's influences. Your trip is yours, do what you like.

Travel more spending less

People tend to think that traveling is expensive and sometimes impossible, that's far to be true. By making smart choices you can travel a lot and spend just a few. No, it's not magic.

1. Find flight deals

Sometimes specific destinations are expensive, so don't choose a city or country, search for flight deals, the best one is going to be your next destination.

2. Book tickets in advance

Most of the time, buying the tickets at the last time is expensive. If possible, try to buy them couple of months before your trip to get a low price and even a promotion.

3. Be flexible with your flight

Flights in the middle of the week, at uncommon hours, or with stops and layovers tend to have a lower price.

Traveling on the window is nice, but it can cost more, don't care about your seat and enjoy your trip, after all the most important is arriving at your destination.

4. Get miles and points

Airlines offer miles for frequent passengers and some chain hotels have a reward program that gives you points for using them. Fly the same airlines and stay at the same hotels when it's possible so you can get free tickets and overnight stays.

5. Check out the currency

Travel to countries where your currency is stronger, this way you can save more money and have a longer stay.

6. Travel in low seasons

The prices of the flights and lodging can increase in high seasons. Although you can avoid crowds and enjoy the place more not getting long lines for attractions and taking photos calmly.

7. Don't shop at the airport

It's a common tip, but it is necessary: avoid buying at airports, the items are much more expensive than other places. If saving money is the goal, there is not a place to buy souvenirs, food, etc.

8. Eating in the plane

During short flights some airlines don't offer free meals, however, they sell them at high prices, so take some snacks with you in case you get hungry during the travel.

9. Search a lot

Before traveling, check out where to eat, how to get to the places you want to visit, how much are tickets of the attractions etc. Deciding things at the last minute can be a bad surprise and make you spend more money than you thought.

10. Stay in central locations

Staying far from downtown can be cheaper. On the other hand, you spend much more on transportation. Choose a hotel where you can go to the places you want on foot, or check if there is a subway station or a bus stop close to it.

11. By bike or on foot

Explore a new destination by bike, and especially on foot are the best and the cheapest way to know it. They provide you different feelings that you can't feel when you are in public transportation.

12. Hotel is not the only option

Consider Airbnb, hostels, etc. they can be cheaper than hotels. Try to book a room with a kitchen is useful and helps you save money by eating in.

13. Stay more days at the same place

Looking at the map and see that it is possible visiting many cities/countries on the same trip is tempting. However, when you change cities/countries you spend money on transportation and enjoy less each place.

14. Local food can be cheap

Public markets, fairs, local stores and street food are great options to taste local food at low prices. Try typical food is part of a complete experience while traveling.

15. Share food

If you are traveling in a group, sharing a dish is a good choice to save money. Most of the time, a dish for two or three is cheaper than a dish for one.

16. Avoid eating near tourist attractions

The restaurants close to famous attractions can be much more expensive, and occasionally not so good, than others which are not so far from there. Be careful.

17. Take some food and water with you

Carry a bottle of water and snacks in your backpack to save you during outings you never know when you will be hungry or thirsty. Arriving at your destination, look for the close supermarket to  buy items you can need, the prices there are better than at cafés.

18. Look for free activities

You can find nice free activities at many destinations such as walking tours, free attractions, and even famous museums that have free admission some days of the week.

19. Tourist cards

Many cities around the world sell different kinds of tourist cards. With them, you can get free entry or great discounts on famous attractions, free public transportation, priority access in busy attractions, free city guides, etc. They can work from one to seven days.

20. Free WiFi

Use the WiFi while you are at the hotel, cafés, restaurants, and even some public areas offer free WiFi. But, avoid using the cell phone and notebooks all the time and enjoy your trip.

21. Talk to the locals

Residents can give you tips about good restaurants with reasonable prices, places to enjoy the city without paying anything, etc. Besides, it is always a chance to make new friends and learn more about the culture.

22. Buy less to travel more

The best part of the trip is the trip itself. Enjoy the sunset, eat good food, learn about new cultures, visit new places and live unusual experiences. Go shopping for clothes, souvenirs, etc. is nice, but it is not essential to have a perfect trip. Always think if you could pay more daily rates for the same amount of that T-shirt you wanted.

After learning how to plan a trip without spending a lot of money, it's time to organize all the steps of your trip without wasting time. Essential Documents to Carry with you while Traveling

Traveling is an amazing experience, however, there is a bureaucratic task that is a little boring, but it's necessary: checking out the travel documents.

1.Passport

Ok, this is obvious, but did you know some countries require you to have a passport which is valid for at least 6 months after the end of your trip? Always take a look at the expiration date of your passport before traveling.

2. Visa

Many countries require you a visa to visit them. A visa is a stamp that gives you permission for entering the countries for some time. So check it out before buying your tickets and avoid a bad surprise when arriving at your destination.

3. Vaccines

Due to different kinds of diseases that exist around the world, some vaccines are mandatory when traveling to specific destinations. For example, some countries require a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Verifying the necessary vaccines, at least one month before traveling, is the best thing to do.

4. Foreign currency

Although most of the places around the world accept international credit cards, taking some cash with you is a good idea to avoid currency conversion fees abroad. Besides, you don't know if you can need it in case of emergencies, such as your cards stop working.

5. Travel insurance

Travel insurance is not mandatory, but it can be very useful. It covers medical emergencies, lost baggage or any other emergency that occurs, so getting one is a great choice.

6. Driver's license

If you are planning to travel abroad and drive there, you must be careful. Some countries accept your driver's license, however, some others not. In these cases you should ask for an international driver's license, it allows you to drive in foreign lands.

You have to be aware of many things when you travel, but Tripsy app can make it easier by helping you to plan each step of your trip, from updating you about your flight status to organizing the attractions you are going to visit. Download Tripsy app and enjoy your trip from the beginning to the end.

How to organize your suitcase in an easy way

You have chosen the destination, the hotel, etc. Now, it's time to organize your bag, check the items that are necessary and what clothes to take with you. For someones, this be a little difficult, but some steps can help you:

1. Choose the right suitcase

Take into account how many days and where you are going to travel. If you will stay a week, a small bag is enough.

If you are going to visit different destinations and change hotels all the time, a rolling suitcase is not the best option.

2. Choose the right clothes

Is it a business trip? A weekend trip? Are you going to the beach? How's the weather there?

They're simple questions, but they can be useful while you're packing by avoiding taking unnecessary clothes.

3. Prefer neutral colors

Choose neutral colors so you can match many pieces of clothing. White or black clothes are always a good choice, on the other hand, you can waste time choosing the best match for printed clothes.

4. Take fabrics that don't wrinkle

Don't waste your time taking a dress that you will have to iron when arriving at your destination. Be practical.  Wool, linen, polyester, cashmere, microfibers and cotton are nice options of fabrics to pack.

5. Avoid new shoes

I know, you are excited to use the incredible new pair of shoes which you've bought specially for that trip. I'm sorry, that's not a good idea. As you are not used to them, you don't know if they are comfortable enough or even if they can hurt you while walking.

6. Keep all cables, charges and electronics in a case

Today, we carry many electronics with us, so imagine you look for them in the middle of your clothes, it's not going to be nice. Being organized is always helpful.

7. Maximize space

Roll up the pieces of clothes, put the socks inside the shoes, stir the belts on the side of the suitcase, and use packing cubes, so your suitcase will have more space, besides, being more organized.

8.  Leave extra space in your bag

Even if you don't plan, you can buy souvenirs, something that was on sale, etc. so organize your suitcase leaving enough space for this stuff is necessary.

9. Organize your carry-on baggage

It doesn't matter if it is a national or international trip, carry-on baggage is always useful.

You can keep your documents, cell phone, medicines, personal care, a book to read during the flight (if you want) and a change of clothes. If your luggage is lost, you can survive for some days with it.

10. Weigh your luggage

Avoid paying excess baggage fees by weighing your luggage before going to the airport.  Nowadays, most of the airlines allow an item of 50 lbs and a carry-on suitcase, however, check out the policy of the airline which you are traveling.

If you want to plan your trip easily, download Tripsy App. You can organize all your trips in only one place, share it with friends and family, access exclusive itineraries, besides receiving flight alerts and many more features.

Choosing your next travel destination

Choosing your next travel destination can be hard. Enjoy your next vacation with this tips from Tripsy.

You are on vacation and don't know what is the best destination to travel. Don't worry, it is a common situation, with many amazing places around the world choosing the best one is not so easy. Check out the following tips and enjoy your next destination:

1. What's your budget?

Based on your budget, you can choose a far or close destination, if you are going to stay in a simple or luxury hotel, the duration of the trip, etc.

You also should consider currency exchange rates, check how much money are you going to spend with attractions, etc.

2. How much time can you spend traveling?

If you have just a few days, traveling to a distant place can be fruitless. The hours you're going to be flying, the adaptation to the time zone change, etc. can make your trip tiresome.

Sometimes, we only think about traveling to other countries, we don't realize the abundance of nice destinations that are around us.

3. Who are you going to travel with?

Are you going to travel solo or with friends? Is it a romantic trip or a family one?

All these questions can help you decide what's the best option.

If you are traveling with children or elderly, an adventurous trip with hiking and trekking it's not a good idea. Everyone should be happy with the travel destination when traveling in a group, so get all the travelers involved in the decision-making process, so the trip can be great from the beginning to the end.

4. What do you like?

Do you prefer hot or cold weather? Urban or natural places? Modern or historic cities? Practicing sports or going to museums?

Going to Europe during winter is not going to be nice if you can't stand cold temperatures. The same way, a cultural trip is not a smart choice if you prefer to swim or go hiking in the woods. Your destination must be a place where you will feel good.

Follow your preferences is the key to have an awesome trip.

5. Special events

Keep in mind that special dates such as Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, New Year's Eve in New York, etc. can make the prices of flights and accommodation increase. Not to mention that crowds can be annoying and make you waste time in lines.

Choosing another date or destination is a good idea.

6. Follow the deals

A place that you've never thought traveling to can be your next destination. Be open-minded, and a cheap flight can decide where you are going on your vacation.

7. Find inspiration for your trip

Take a look at Pinterest, Instagram, travel blogs, magazines, and also talk to your friends and family.

A stunning photo or a conversation with someone can give you different ideas of destinations.

After you have chosen your destination, it's time to plan your trip using Tripsy App. Organize all your trips in only one place, share it with friends and family, receive flight alerts, also access exclusive itineraries among other amazing features.

That's why we developed this so that you can save any document into your trip. You can take a photo, choose a PDF, a video from your library, or even write a note to keep it always easy to get.

And the best part is that this is all shared with your guests, so if you're traveling with family and friends, they all have access to the documents and can add new ones. Isn't that awesome?! 😎

Access all documents from anywhere, and share with your guests

A new experience for adding activities

Tripsy 1.4 — Apple Watch, Siri Shortcuts, Widget and more!

This release integrates Tripsy even more within your iOS device.

Apple Watch

This release includes a standalone Apple Watch application that allows you to travel with Tripsy without taking your iPhone with you all the time. The Apple Watch will always show you your next trip with all the activities on it, and you can enter each activity to check the details and trace a route to it using the native Maps app on your wrist.

The app also includes lots of new complications to your watch face, that will present information about your next activity.

Siri Shortcuts

Tripsy is now integrated with Siri Shortcuts, the integration is done automatically while you're using the app, but you can also record some phrases to call specific actions on the app. The supported actions to record right now are:

  • View the list of activities (of the current/next trip)
  • View the hotel that you're staying that night (or your next hotel)
  • View the details of your next activity
  • View the details of your next flight

Today's Widget

Want to see the next activity of your trip directly from the locked screen? Now with Today's widget, you can do it.

Better hyperlink and address handling support

We noticed that some of our users wanted to add links, phone numbers, or dates inside the "Notes" of the activities from their feedbacks. On this release, when you add links to the "Notes" of your activity, we're going to create a hyperlink and forward you to the more appropriate application: to the app in case that's possible, to the website, day on the calendar or call the phone number. Super handy!

Also, if you want to include a link on the address field, now it's totally possible, and the app will handle it for you. It can even be a link to Airbnb, Booking, Yelp, Google Maps, and others (if you have the app installed, it will try to open directly into the app).

Other changes included on this update:

  • Fixed a bug related to the 12-hour clock being displayed as 24-hour clock style.
  • Improved VoiceOver support overall.
  • Added support to actions on the Trip and Activities when you use 3D Touch from the list.
  • Added a monthly option to the subscription plan.

We hope you enjoy this update! ❤️

If you have any feedback, you can contact us on feedback@tripsy.app, we would love to hear from you!

If you enjoy it, it would mean the world to us if you could share the news on Twitter. And oh, a review in the App Store helps a lot, too! If you want to write about us, you can find our PressKit here.

Well, Tripsy is now your answer!

Ever since the first version of the app, Tripsy has offered premium itineraries created entirely by our team, and we always try to add new itineraries on every major update. On this release, we are introducing a new trip itinerary to Vancouver (4 days), we hope you like it!

🤓 Reduced the app size from 8MB to just 3MB

That’s right! The app now has the size smaller than a photo in high resolution. We were able to do that after updating the source-code to Swift 5, and since we don’t use big frameworks to track your usage and get your data, the app is super small right now!

We hope you enjoy this update! ❤️
